Comparing the Steelers to the Seahawks: Who Will Win?

The Steelers and Seahawks are set to face off in the Seattle this week in a key matchup. Who will be the victor? That’s hard to say, but we have some ideas. Here are 4 bold predictions for Steelers vs Seahawks.

Steelers vs. Seahawks

The Steelers will play the Seahawks better than most people expect. They’re not as bad as many think. And they do have a good chance of winning, this week and in the long run.

The Seahawks will be the team that continues to pull out more impressive performances, as they do every season. They will blow Pittsburgh out of the water, 27-17. The Steelers will hang around for awhile, but eventually this game will end in a blowout.

That’s probably why I made the case that it’s not their year to win it all. Because I still believe that a few upsets can happen in the playoffs.

Only twice since 2005 have the Steelers made the Super Bowl. In 2008 and last year. They’ve had a few chances, but each time they fell short. So they might as well prepare for the future.

Prediction One

James Harrison has three sacks and a forced fumble this Sunday. Harrison will register at least 1 sack and will have 2 tackles for loss.

Prediction Two

The Steelers will have 5 sacks.

Prediction Three

Alejandro Villanueva will allow just 1 pressure on 28 pass blocking snaps. He will be the most impressive Steelers offensive lineman this week.

Prediction Four

LeVeon Bell will record 55.1% of all offensive snaps.

Prediction Five

Matt Feiler will record two pressures on 20 pass blocking snaps. Feiler will win the distinction of best Steelers offensive lineman on the field.

Prediction Six

Bud Dupree will record a QB hit or sack.

Prediction Seven

Russell Wilson will record 14.4 air yards per attempt on 8 drop backs.

Prediction Two

The Steelers fall flat in Seattle.

The Seahawks are the most complete team in the NFL right now. They are sitting pretty at 6-3, even after their 17-14 loss to the 49ers last week. The Steelers have been inconsistent, but they did just pull out a win against the Jaguars.

At the same time, the Steelers are a slight underdog in this game. It’s a team that’s capable of beating any team in the NFL, especially at home. They will be ready to face the powerhouse Seahawks, but the Steelers are too inconsistent to be picked to win this game.

Prediction Three

Roethlisberger gets injured, early in the game.

That’s the biggest concern here. When you consider the way the Steelers have been playing the last two weeks, it’s easy to see why they’re a slight underdog.

Prediction Three

Seahawks Over Steelers 42-24

Pittsburgh has been a bit snake bitten against the Seahawks. They have lost the last two games in Seattle, and not even the exciting offense of the Steelers can overcome that.

The Steelers have the worst rushing attack of any team the Seahawks have faced all season. The Steelers run game has been mediocre at best and the run defense has had to field constant questions about stopping the run game. That isn’t something that typically gets better in cold weather, which is what the Steelers are heading into this week.

Prediction Four

Blitz The Quarterback

One of the big storylines going into this game is that the Steelers have blitzed the fewest times in the league. They have sent the QB to the bench in 12 games, and only did so when Ben Roethlisberger was injured.

Seattle, on the other hand, is blitzing the most. They are blitzing their QB 26.3% of the time this year. Ben Roethlisberger is only being sent to the bench 17% of the time.

So Seattle should win this one. If they can force Roethlisberger into a sack or two, it could be a long day for the offense. But that won’t happen. He will be able to get the ball out, and play decently against the blitz.

Prediction Five

Steelers’ Defense Continues

There’s no doubt that the Steelers’ defense has struggled in the last two games.
