The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team in the National Football League (NFL). They are highly ranked in terms of team value and also end up with one of the best records. The Steelers won the Super Bowl in 2005, 2008, and 2010. They have won six division titles in addition to their four league championships, which is second only to the Green Bay Packers’ total of nine. Generally, when you see them winning this year, it’s happening because they hired the right coach. They’ve won six Super Bowls and eight AFC Championships. Head Coach Mike Tomlin is the 12th head coach in team history.
Why Mike Tomlin is the best coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers
There are a lot of football coaches to choose from, especially in the AFC North. Bill Cowher is an obvious candidate, as he won four Super Bowls and finished the 2005 season with an unblemished 14-0 record. He is the highest winning coach in league history. But Cowher is a very old man now. He has been retired since the 2007 season, so the Steelers decided to go with a younger guy.
Tomlin has had an impressive 15-year career and is a very interesting character. He is the first African American head coach in the history of the Steelers franchise. That’s pretty big in a league where more than 80% of its players are white. He was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Tomlin’s stint with the Steelers started out well enough.

Mike Tomlin’s career with the Steelers
Tomlin has been with the Steelers since 2007, when they hired him as their defensive backs coach. He has been with the team in every level, except for the front office. Since 2007, he has been the team’s defensive coordinator, interim head coach, and head coach. When the team wanted a head coach in the 2007 offseason, Tomlin was the candidate.
After Bill Cowher retired, Tomlin was the only candidate to interview for the vacant job. When the Steelers were given the green light to hire Tomlin, they had to give him a $3 million bonus in addition to a $1 million signing bonus. Tomlin’s contract with the Steelers is in the middle of the pack, and it is a three-year deal. His current contract ends in the 2020-2021 season. In that time, the Steelers are eligible for a four-year extension.
Tomlin’s accolades
Throughout his career, Tomlin has had a lot of honors. He started with one NFL Coach of the Year award in 2010. After the Steelers faced the Packers in Super Bowl XLV, Tomlin won his second Coach of the Year. When Tomlin retired in January, 2015, he has the second most wins (61) in the NFL history. He has the second most wins in Steelers history. Additionally, he has the second most conference championships, with two. With the most Super Bowl victories, Tomlin has won five. He also has the most playoff victories, with ten. What makes Tomlin so exceptional is that he always finds a way to make it to the Super Bowl and bring home the big trophy, which he did four times in his tenure.

His coaching style
Tomlin has an entertaining and engaging personality. He can really come off as a guy that has a relationship with the players on the team and is a big reason for their success.
As a former player, and a NFL coach, it’s easy to see how many successes he’s had so far. It takes a lot of hard work to get to this point, a lot of patience, and a lot of charisma.
Here are the best things that makes Tomlin a good coach:
First and foremost, his coaching style is to build a good atmosphere of team bonding, friendship, and trust. If you want to build a winning team, then you have to first build a good team atmosphere. I know that sounds simplistic, but it’s really that simple.
He will also talk a lot of inside stuff, and emphasize things that they do have to do to get better.
Conclusion
It was my favorite team growing up, and one of the main reasons why I started this website was to be able to go back and watch some games that I missed. Hopefully I can one day earn a Super Bowl ring by the Steelers. Regardless, I know Mike Tomlin as a player, and I respect him as a coach. I want to know his opinions on some of the Steelers’ biggest issues this season, and he was kind enough to answer some of my questions about the team. Hopefully, some of you will learn something new about him.
You were a stud athlete who went to the University of Virginia. What about being a football player appealed to you?
It just was a whole different world. It was a whole different world of skill. The physical aspect of it, and the game you had to understand. I enjoyed it.
